How Kin handles your information

Last updated October 3, 2026

Kin is private matchmaking for gay men. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. For a product overview of our privacy model, see our Privacy page.

Who we are

Kin (“we,” “us”) operates a membership matchmaking service. Questions about this policy: hello@kin.love.

What we collect

We may collect:

  • Account and contact details (name, email, phone, city).
  • Profile and dossier information you provide so we can make introductions (preferences, background, photos you upload).
  • Verification materials (government ID and related documents) submitted for Kin review only.
  • Billing and membership status handled by our payment processor.
  • Basic technical data (device, browser, IP, approximate location) needed to run and secure the service.

How we use information

We use your information to:

  • Operate membership and deliver introductions.
  • Verify identity and maintain a trusted pool.
  • Process payments and membership changes.
  • Communicate about your account, matches, and service.
  • Improve safety, prevent fraud, and meet legal duties.

We do not sell member data. We do not run a public browseable dating feed.

Identity and introductions

Your identity stays private until there is mutual interest. Matches see limited, banded information — not raw verification files. Verification documents are for Kin only and are never shown to other members.

When we share

We share information only as needed: with service providers (hosting, payments, email, and AI processing for interviews and matching assistance) under contract; with a prospective match after mutual unlock, limited to what the product shows; or when required by law or to protect members and Kin. Kin does not train its own models on member data. Interview and matching requests are sent to an AI provider with storage disabled on our side; that provider’s own retention rules still apply.

Who helps us run Kin

We use vendors to operate the service, including: authentication (Google or Apple if you choose those), database and file storage, payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, optional SMS, and an AI provider for conversation and matching assistance. Authorized Kin staff listed as operators can review membership applications, interviews, verification files, and account data to decide on applications and to run matching and safety.

Cookies and similar tech

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure basic site performance. We do not use advertising trackers to sell your data. You can control cookies in your browser; disabling essentials may break login or membership flows.

Retention and security

We keep information while your account is active and as long as needed for introductions, billing, disputes, safety, and legal obligations. Verification files are not shown to other members. We keep them as needed to complete review, prevent fraud, and operate the service, and delete them when you delete your account, except records we must retain for billing or safety. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards; no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

Your choices

You may update profile information in the product, cancel membership anytime, or request access, correction, or deletion of personal data by emailing support@kin.dating. We may retain limited records where required (e.g. billing or safety).

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
